Late this morning, something was missing from the local shopping centre. There were few males. My wife and I had our regular coffee after doing the rounds. There were only two males at the lounge, surrounded by 28 females.Of course, I said, the national (AFL) footy grand final is on (that’s the Aussie Rules – a game peculiar to these shores). Shopping centres are a unique way or taking a look (and listen) at life. It truly is the passing parade. Check out the latest fashions and eavesdrop on phone conversations as you walk around (mobiles: what a scourge). But back to the footy. Every time there’s a footy telecast featuring one of the two local teams, the road traffic is also quieter than usual. It’s a good time to program a day out (if you don’t follow this variety of football). I had thought of soemething else I’d observed at the shops, but I forgot about it in the rush to get home to watch the last half of the game.
